K-ON!! Second Season Review

Hi guys! Ryo-kun here! I’ve just finished K-On! second season recently and It was so amazing that I decided to make a review for it. This is my first review so don’t expect much from it.

The story is about 5 high school girls forming a band known as “Hokago Tea Time” in a music club of a certain private girls school named Sakura High School. To begin with, you might think that this is about them practicing music everyday, joining concerts and competition as they try to reach the top. But sadly, no, K-On is more about their everyday lives laughing, playing around and of course, a little music and it’s the “moe” that drives the plot. Sorry to say that if you’re the type of viewer that looks for action packed, sci-fi, mecha with lasers shooting around type of plot going on, unfortunately this is NOT the anime for you. But if you’re a a fan of slice of life and able to watch something that makes you laugh but nothing really happens, then this is just the anime that suits you!

So what makes K-On so enjoyable? First of all, it doesn’t need any running plot to make it interesting. In fact, it is enjoyable in it’s own way with some of the funny and cute scenes along each of the 24-minutes episodes. Comedy wise, it is funny in it’s own way by the retard-ness(in a good way) of some characters namely Yui and Ritsu. And to be honest, i personally think that this season is a whole lot better than the previous season as they have shifted away from the same old cake/photo-shooting/tea time and there are wider range of activities(outside of the clubroom!) for this season. On top of that, the shining part of this season is when they realize that this is the last high school year for them and how they wish to stay like this forever. This was, however, never felt before in season 1 because it seems like time never really moves on. But from season 2, you can really feel their activity all along the year as everything comes to an end as they cherish their last few moments in high school together.
