Guilty Crown 01-03 : Mr. Nice Guy

Looks like i’m once again late for the party this season, and a very late one at that. I’ve pretty much took care most of my RL stuff which i’d rather not go into detail here; so much for a “comeback post” decades ago, pff. However, it’s not like i’ve been missing out or anything. In fact, I do know that there’re lots of nice shows out there this season so i’ll definitely squeeze out a late fall impression post out of my busy holiday schedule. But for now, i’ve decided to blog about this show weekly mainly because of it’s amazing episode 1 debut.

i’m pretty sure most of you know about Supercell as they are the group behind Guilty Crown’s amazing soundtrack. Usually, I wouldn’t like sentimental, soft genres type of songs but surprisingly ” Euterpe” was one of the main reasons why I like this show. Animation wise, I think it’s very well done on Production I.G’s part and I would say it’s quality is top notch, rivaling the likes of other top tier shows this season such as Fate/Zero, Boku wa Tomodachi, etc.

From what I read, some people have been talking about how Code Geass-ish this show is with the post-apocalyptic-war theme, the appearance of a mysterious girl and all. Yes in fact I do agree EXCEPT for that wimpy-antisocial main lead, Shu was it? (this shows that I couldn’t care less) I don’t remember Leloch being that much of a wimp, no? Well at least Captain Gai didn’t do an epic spin kick like Suzaku LOL. On episode 3, it just shows that how much of an idiot he is, just like how other wimpy main leads are *stares at Narumi*. Life hits you hard boy, you can’t just trust someone like that and it’s obvious that he’d turn you in before you do. But hey, look on the bright side, at least he’s bright and quick enough to figure out who “Sugar” really is. And this might just be the point where he grows some balls major character development kicks in and he decides to join the Undertaker after this mess! Well..hopefully.

Fortunately there’s this interesting character named Gai and I would say he is the physically capable version of Lelouch only without the geass. Also, without this epic smile LOL.

But hey, who knows he might wear this face someday when all goes too well for him, but only if Shu agrees to join him that is. Gai has the brains and great caliber as the leader and all but I have this feeling that he will be the surprise antagonist of this show. Did you find the way he said ” the void should be mine ” to be more than just frustration and anger? I smell jealousy there. He might seem like the good guy right now but he could be planning to achieve something entirely different from behind. Or maybe because his character was made this way? Just a wild, baseless guess guys, don’t bite me for that. Oh I could smell the angry fangirls!

I find the whole “ability of king” idea to be a very interesting concept. As of now, it still remains a mystery as to why Shu could extract a sword out of Inori. Could she be the chosen one as the partner of an ability wielder? Did the creator of this ability performed an experiment on her? If she is to serve her purpose as one of the partner, that would mean there are 2 more characters like her. And it was also interesting to know that Gai has the ability to know what object/item/weapon is inside a person. It could either be a given ability or an acquired knowledge from somewhere so we’ll see about that. Oh man, this should be an interesting series to blog.

Oh, and I was suddenly reminded that I have been blogging on One-Precinct for a year now! That’s right, our first year anniversary is just around the corner! Ah, the tears, sweat and blood. Anyways, an anniversary post should be coming right up. So yeah, I guess that’s all for now. See you again next week for more Guilty Crown ramblings. Ryo-kun, signing out!
