Kamisama no Memochou Episode 2 review

My thoughts

I nearly picked Dantalian no Shoka over Kami Memo. It was a close call but Kami Memo still prevails. Experience has taught me to follow my instincts and most of the time my first choice is always correct. Back to this episode, it seems like I didn’t choose a wrong show to blog. It’s probably only me but I think Kami Memo’s mystery are more complex and deadlier than Gosick. Not to mention it’s more interesting if you compare it in terms of the first few mystery cases. The mysteries this time clearly made me feel like wanting more. I probably feel that way because the first episode consist of 48 minutes long which covered the whole mysteries thus no feeling of suspense.

First of all, I have to point out that Meo’s voice does not suit her at all. Her voice over the phone call at first made me think that she’s probably some little girl who’s in trouble now that her father is running away. With Meo’s build, I think it’s more suitable for her to have a more mature voice. Putting that issue aside, Meo’s a very family loving person and loves his dad very much. But whether her father’s intentions were to help her to escape or using her as a decoy, the outcome won’t be nice for her.

Known as the god’s hand – Narumi, he sure knows how to deal with porn virus. Soichirou’s underlings were idiots who didn’t how how to lie, how hilarious of them. But back at Narumi, I think he has to have something special about him –  maybe keen eyes or fighting capabilities? Anything helpful that could contribute to the team would be nice because his character is just too plain for this amazing NEET detectives group. I also didn’t like how he slip his tongue. He almost messed up there, luckily Tetsu reacted quick enough to shut him up.

The other characters however, did really great this episode. I like how Tetsu puts his life on the line even with someone who he just met. I notice he’s good at dealing with people, even a scary person like that baldy. Hitoshi on the other hand is very good at thinking up strategies and even thought of one possibility for this case even though there were not enough clues at the moment. And here comes the question of the day – how do you define a gigolo? In my country a gigolo is someone who’s gay that sells his body to another men. When it was first mentioned in the first episode I thought Hiroaki is gay. But this episode shows that he’s “too tired” from getting all the info from his ex-girlfriends which is different from what I understand about gigolo.

From what I understand, the ending of this episode seems to imply that Meo’s father is dead. And from the live footage Yuuko show to Narumi, it appears that some serious shit happened. The yakuzas were probably getting desperate on finding her father. The phone will probably serve as a memento for Meo – a tribute to her beloved family members.
